Byte Anvil

After our graduation project a part of our group decided to that Full Body Multiplayer VR is something a lot of people need to try. For that we created the company Byte Anvil where we wanted to make sure developers can easily create these kinds of experiences.

Who?

Together with my colleagues and friends, I decided to create Byte Anvil, but who are these people:

  • Willem-Jan Eeftingh: A programmer on Project Myron who was in charge of hand interaction and gesture controls
  • Lars Temmink: A programmer on Project Myron who was in charge of data compression and interpolation.
  • Robin Kuiper: A programmer on Project Myron who was in charge of networking.

Together we wanted to make this dream a reality.

What would we make?

We wanted to create a platform where developers can pick different motion capture, network and virtual reality solutions, to easily develop Full Body Multiplayer VR experiences.

Why did we stop?

In February 2018 we visited a company called VREE, they developed a similar product to ours. After the visit we realized that we couldn’t compete with VREE and decided to stop with Byte Anvil.

We are grateful to everyone who helped us pursue our dream and want to give a special thanks to The Virtual Dutch Men who offered a space to work in for free for half a year.
